The Food at Four Points by Sheraton, New Delhi! (Part 1 of 3 from theNew Delhi series)
A good 10-12 days ago, I began
living my dream (not that am already living it,) but this was totally
different, for I was getting into travel blogging. What was supposed to be an 8
series post about my trip to New Delhi and the wonderful food that the city had
to offer shall now, sadly be a 3-4 series post courtesy the wonderful airplane food I had for breakfast on an early morning flight.

One of the highlights of my trip,
undoubtedly, was my stay at Four Points by Sheraton (FPS), that’s located just
15-20 minutes away from the airport.

The lavish breakfast spread at FPS
consists of a large variety of food from
assorted milkshakes to waffles and mini pancakes to various idlis and dosas from the South and a wonderful
assortment of breads and jams and an assortment of cereals and how can I not
mention the traditional Aloo Puri!

Yes, Aloo Puri was my super duper
favourite part of the whole breakfast buffet, and I’ve loved every bit of it;
imagine, aloo puri and honey loops for breakfast, for three full days, how
happy can one get?

And just as I finish off this
wonderful breakfast and walk back to my room for a nap (one, obviously needs a
nap after such a heavy breakfast), a pleasant sight of khasta kachoris, kaju
katli and fresh fruits await me….

What followed was a 10 course,
specially curated meal by Chef Anuj Kapoor where I was given a sneak peak from
the to be launched menu at FPS that is a combination of European, Oriental and
Indian flavours!

What my meal (that I split into 2
meals) comprised of:
meals) comprised of:
Vietnamese Spring Rolls: When
this dish came up to me and when Chef spoke baout it, I was immediately taken
into one of those Kylie Kwong episodes on TLC where she served super hot, wok
tossed salad wrapped in lettuce.

In this case, what we had were these
delicious Vietnamese Spring Rolls that are stuffed with an assortment of
julienned vegetables and glass noodles cooked in mild Chinese sauces and spices
and is Chef Kapoor’s signature take on the Chinese concept of combining hot and
cold food and taking inspiration from the katha chuna concept for he gives you
some wonderful sweet chilli sauce and an assortment peanuts, spices, fresh
lemon and herbs to make part of your lettuce wrap before adding the spring
rolls to it and relishing it!

Next came the Vegetarian Galouti Kebab
that was made with a combination of yam and raw bananas and loads of very
strong spices. As delicious as this was, personally, am not a very big fan of
strong khada masala and this, along with the Vegetarian Shikampuri Kebab
were such a miss for me.

The Baby Caesar Salad
followed and this was the first time I’ve loved a salad so much. I could have
had this creation of Chef Kapoor all through my stay for every meal and would
still have a smile on my face.

The Roasted Tomato and Basil Soup that
came next was another surprise; served with a Parmesan puff and topped with a
drizzle of basil oil and basil buds, this had to be the most delicious
rendition of Tomato and Basil soup that I’ve had in a long time to come.

The Vegetarian Thai Combo

stir fried vegetables that comprised of some pok choy, Chinese cabbage,

What also accompanied these two was some
red Thai curry, I personally am not a big fan of Thai curry in any form, and
hence, am the wrong person to comment on this!

Linguini Rustica: The
name is so Ratatouille… Alfredo Linguini you see!!! A no gravy pasta that is
so, so different from the aglio olio, served with a generous portion of garlic
bread, eating this was a true pleasure.

Honey Chilli Potato Kathi Rolls: A
Chinese twist to a very Indian dish, this gets added to the very long list of
Indo-Chinese (Chinese inspired Indian food) and is pretty decent!

DESSERT!!! What is the dessert lover
like without any delicious dessert?

Chef Kapoor’s signature Sizzling Gooey Brownie
with Ice Cream: Who does not love brownie and ice cream?
I adore brownie and ice cream and am always looking out for a reason to head to
have some but what I had at FPS was totally different. Mumbaikars like me are
used to having a brownie plopped on a sizzler plate, topped with a so called
large scoop of vanilla ice cream and topped with some chocolate sauce, but
this, this was not like any of those; this non sizzling thing had Karan and me
fighting like three year olds over the last piece of chocolate in the house (I
guess three year olds would have been well behaved as compared to us!)

The Rasmalai and New
York Style Cheesecake followed but let me be very honest, after that
smasher of a brownie that I just had, this was nothing compared to that; not
that they were not any good, but that brownie, OH MY GOD, I wanna head back to
FPS for it!

After a meal like this, I chose to
go easy on my food the next day and had some soulful dal chawal and salad sent
across to my room for lunch and the chef sent across a wonderful platter of
chocolates, dilli waali mathi that reminded me of auntyji in New Delhi, a delicious
bread and spicy Thai dip too!

FPS also has a wonderful Dinner
Buffet that has a wide selection of Indian, Oriental and European food across
each course!

Such a large spread of mouth watering dishes! Lunch time and these dishes make great company
indeed a vast spread; took 2 days to eat all this food!
