As mentioned in my previous post, there are so, so many
food festivals happening all across the city; it’s a new fad, that has more
misses than hit.

Another food festival, that goes on till the 27th
of this month is the Persian Food

Persian Food also known as Iranian food, is all about
the unique spices, flavours and fragrances that draw loads and loads of
inspiration from various Middle Eastern cuisines.

A first of its kind festival, the team at Renaissance have
flown down this wonderful chef from Persia who has brought with her, a suitcase
filled with various spices, herbs and aromatics native to that region.

The Food Bloggers Association of India recently hosted
a blogger table at Nawab Saheb and I was amongst the lucky few who were given a
chance to try this very different, but still very similar cuisine!

With live ghazal’s in the backdrop, we swere too
excited to know what the evening had in store, for all of us.

What we had:
Salad
E Shiraz: Our good old tamatar pyaaz kachumbar that
this was, it was tossed with fresh rose petals and a homemade spice Persian
spice mix and a dash of freshly squeezed lemon juice!

Truly a wonderful and refreshing change to our regular
salad!

What’s a good Persian/middle eastern meal like without these, and boy oh boy! I
just could not stop eating these! Spicy, hot and irrestible!

As good as they looked, there was something about them that did not allow me to
try them or even experiment with them.

For the mains, we had a variety of curries (mixed
vegetable, brinjal and pulses) and Dal along with assorted roti’s and rice; and
we did not enjoy these as much as the appetizers!

There was also a dessert buffet with a massive spread
that we just could not stop drooling over. Can you just take your eyes off that thaali that Guiltless Foodies had?

Yes, I tried everything they had to offer in vegetarian except the brocolli and apples; maybe next time I will!
