Maharaja Bhog, Juhu
You know what, it isn’t every day, that you wake up craving for restaurants that have given you such happy food memories!
Today was one such day!
All that I wanted as I woke up was a massive and very lavish thaali meal, and all that I could think of was an experience I had a few weeks ago at Maharaja Bhog’s new outlet in Juhu (and it is just 15 minutes away from home)!!
The Gujju in me always wakes up at when it hears the term “thaali” for the thaali is one kind of meal that not only gives me immense happiness but also loads and loads of satisfaction!
It was a very happy afternoon, I remember well, a rainy one indeed when Mr. Ashish Maheshwari, the founder of Maharaja Bhog was an extremely gracious host as he hosted a few bloggers at this new outlet!
Great company, beautiful Mumbai weather (off-seasonal monsoons), the sea shore (a very apt location) and brilliant food is exactly how I would define the afternoon!
The traditional thaali that we had comprised of every element that makes an Indian meal complete.
The Potali Kachori from the farsan was splendid and Pizza Papri Chaat from the special farsan was a very unique change to our normal papri chaat; the papri was topped with pizza sauce and a sprinkle of cheese, this was finger licking good.. Oh and did I mention that the Handvo Dhokla converted the handvo hater in me!
We also had an assortment of sabjis like the Tiranga Rasgulla Ki Sabji, the Thali Petha Thepla, the Aloo Patal Bhajji and the Palak Rajma. From all of these, the aloo patal bhaji and the tiranga rasgulla ki sabji were my true blue favourites! I ended up taking multiple portions of the aloo too!
The Gujju in me was highly disappointed with the Gujarati Dal and Kadhi, but that is okay because their Phulkas were very similar to what I eat at home (mind you, am extremely fussy about the phulkas I eat; I din’t even eat the phulkas I make) and the paneer paratha was to die for!
And because no thaali is complete without mishtaan, I gorged on some supremely delicious Amrakhand that they had to offer (definitely done a good karma!)!
What are you waiting for, go grab your thaali, now!!
