The English Department, Bandra West
After a successful stint in Malad, The English Department, Mumbai’s British inspired restaurant/bar recently opened doors in Bandra with a British Grenadier to welcome you and busts of Her Highness, Queen Elizabeth all across the restaurant!
A mix of Bollywood and English numbers, the restaurant caters to people across all age groups and does ensure a smile on everyone’s face!
What we had:
Baby Corn and Paneer Chilly: Undoubtedly the dish of the day for me; the baby corn was an extremely welcome addition to chilly paneer and was thoroughly enjoyed. I really cannot recollect how many plates of these I ended up eating *guilty grin*.
Indian Barbeque Cottage Cheese: With the babycorn paneer chilly leaving you with extremely high expectations, the Indian Barbeque Cottage Cheese sadly, was a contrast! The spices tasted uncooked and extremely salty! Definitely a mood spoiler!
Bruschetta: More on the lines of a baguette pizza, this bruschetta was neither the best nor the worst that I have ever had!
Fry Up Veg Rice: The Good Old Fried Rice! Perfectly spiced and extremely delicious! We managed to clean out the portion in no time and relished it to the ‘T’!
Hakka Noodles: Another stunner, this was a favourite too! And since there is nothing much that one can say about hakka noodles, the fact that these weren’t soggy – greasy – spicy but still packed a punch of flavor give me enough reasons to give this dish additional brownie points!
Veggie Delight Pizza: Assorted bell peppers, baby corn, olives and jalapenos on a thin crust base, cooked well; need I say anymore?
Black-Currant Mousse: Overwhipped cream and extremely buttery, this is one dish you do not want to end your evening with!
We were invited to attend The English Department, Bandra’s launch party, which was truly a memorable evening!
