Sammy Sosa Revisited, 5 Dishes You Must Eat There
Sammy Sosa has been Mumbai’s go to place for some yum Mexican food since many, many years. They not only introduced the whole guac and chip concept to Mumbai, but also an entire new cuisine with some very refreshing flavours!
I personally have some very fond memories with Sammy Sosa in general, and with the number of restaurants that have come up in recent times and the variety that they offer is large; in the quest to keep up with with all of them, I must admit that for me, the humble Sammy Sosa was long forgotten. But then, when a very close friend of mine happened to visit the place and posted about it, a wave of nostalgia hit me and I decided to visit them again!
This is what we had:
Chacho Nacho: Sammy Sosa’s version of the loaded nachos, why this stood out was because of the house made nachos (yes, you could taste and come to know how good they are)! These were topped with black beans (YES), freshly chopped onions, tomatoes and jalapenos, cheese sauce, sour cream and some salad! Accompanied by some mango salsa, this one accompaniment truly took the dish to a new high! I personally love guacamole and had requested for a portion of that too as an accompaniment!
Crispy Potato Skins: There is this one very, very fond memory that I have of this particular dish. From my very first visit to Sammy Sosa in June, 2013; we were a group of friends and one of the dishes we ordered was an assorted potato platter and the skins were so good that I just had to order them! Finished in seconds, I relished these too with some of the extra guacamole from my nachos! Truly heaven I must say!
Mango Margarita: What is a good meal like without any good beverages and the mango margarita at Sammy Sosa was oh so perfect! Went perfectly with the mexican meal that we were enjoying and the salt rim was just enough to cut down the sweetness of the mango!
Quesadilla: Another mexican favourite, how can we be at a mexican place and not relish some quesadillas?
These were perfectly crisp (just the way I Love them) and well stuffed, again, something that shines because of the perfection of simplicity!
Taco Bowl: Definitely the highlight of the day for me, this was riced cooked with a lot of cilantro (definitely the best I have ever had) topped with a taco bowl filled with beans, salad and cheese sauce, this is definitely one dish I will keep on going back for MORE!
Some wonderful memories refreshed and loads of great food, Sammy Sosa proved it once again, why classics NEVER go out of fashion!
