Delish: Single Origin Cocoa Brews, JW Sahar, Mumbai
Some places always feel a lot like home. The positivity in the atmosphere and that comfort zone that you immediately get into, some places truly make you smile effortlessly.
JW Marriott Mumbai Sahar is one of those places for me.
The warmth that you feel here, needs to be experienced to know what it is; which is why, the minute I heard Hot Chocolate Festival and JW Sahar in one sentence, I found myself making plans for yet another mesmerising (hopefully!) experience!
Read on to know if it actually was mesmerising or what?
Aptly titled “Delish: Single Origin Cocoa Brews”, the festival brings to you hot chocolate flavours from across the world, each with a unique flavour base and undertone; cooked to perfection and a variety of options as accompaniments, this experience truly was unique and unlike anything I have experienced in this city!
It was one of those rainy afternoons of last week when we ended up at JW Lounge to enjoy the festival and this is what we had.
Ghana: 40% pure cocoa with a nutty undertone, this one has to be my favourite of the lot! Topped with some delicious whipped cream and chocolate bark, this came accompanied with some delicious melt in the mouth churros, sprinkled with just the right amount of cinnamon and we also asked for some marshmallows on the side. What added to the experience was that these were no store bought marshmallows but were handmade. Soft, fluffy and melt in the mouth, these were undoubtedly the finest that I could have ever had! What also made this very unique was that even though it was a 40%, it wasn’t sweet at all, the hot chocolate too did not have any sugar as a result of which, you could actually relish the purity of the chocolate.
Madagascar: 67.4% pure cocoa, this was one very comforting hot chocolate. Just the right mix between bitter and bitter-sweet and a berry like undertone, the fresh churros that accompanied it elevated the experience.
The downpour outside was perfect for this and the only thing we missed was a good book to accompany this!
Tanzanie: 75% pure cocoa, this one was bitter and rustic with a floral undertone. The fact that this was neither too thick nor too thin allowed us to drink it easily and still enjoy the cocoa. A sip into this and the first thing that comes to mind is the quality of cocoa used. I don’t know what cocoa they used but I do know for a fact that this had to be the finest form of pure cocoa that I had ever experienced.
Well, me being me, I also ended up ordering a portion of samosa on the side (well, it was raining a lot and I read samosa’s on their menu) and am sure I could not have made a better decision! Super hot, spicy and crisp samosas, the green chutney that accompanied them was actually the highlight and we found it so difficult to stop eating them!
As much as I love a good hot chocolate, the festival at JW Sahar has totally changed my perception of Hot Chocolate and I know for a fact that drinking hot chocolate is never going to be the same for me, ever again!
(P.S. The festival ends on the 31st of July, what are you waiting for?)
