Amdavad..!!!
I recently got this fabulous opportunity to spend a fortnight in Amdavad and I was ELATED. Jumping around screaming my lungs out of happiness, announcing to the world that I was visiting Amdavad (literally).
So fifteen days in Amdavad.. There was no way in which I was gonna leave this city without exploring the food culture of the city.
I had some huge huge plans of visiting this place and trying out that dish; but majority of high hopes remained high hopes, all because my work location in there was in a khopcha (Read : Corner) of the city that there was hardly anything that delivered there.. pan aapde su kari sakye; kaam toh kaam che… (but what can we do! work is work)
Well, I had some great and some not so great food experiences in the city.. Some of them deserve a separate post of their own (yes, there are going to be a few more posts from my trip to amdavad); and some, I felt, could do with a common post..
Jassi De Parathe
Well, I was honestly very surprised when I saw this name pop up on zomato; and the menu didn’t look very pleasing either but my craving to experiment with the city made me dial this place for my meal. Authentic punjabi, dhaba style parathas; in amdavad; BRING IT ON..!!
Confident of my meal to be a total disaster, I was already thinking of various other options that I had to fulfil my hunger. But, to my surprise; this place turned out to be just fab.. The food came neatly packed with the parathas coming in pizza boxes (so that they don’t get out of shape by the time the reach us) and were accompanied by a bowl of curds for each paratha. The curds came in small plastic dabbas and they also sent salad, butter and chutneys in small sealed packets; 2 for each paratha.. And, surprisingly they also sent mukhvaas.. Something that no restaurant adds to their delivery..
I lost my faith over Havmor.
Melt In
Melt In… No amount of words can describe the happiness that I experienced at this place..!
The hazelnut gelato with toasted hazelnut crumbs in a waffle cone that has been lined with molten milk chocolate sauce on the inside… |
I recommend the hazelnut gelato and the hazelnut shots here..
Honest
Anyone who has been to Amdavad has heard of “Honest ni Pav Bhaji” and let me be honest about it, I found it inedible..Fail to understand the hype around this place. But, yes, if you’re a mumbaikar and are craving for a decent masala pav in Amdavad, head to Honest outlet closest to you. (strange but yes, the masala pav was fab and the pav bhaji inedible)
Dangee Dums
What pulled me towards this was the great exteriors… Am gonna be a little partial towards Dangee Dums.. I did not find their cupcakes and chocolates really appealing to the eye; but yes I had the hazelnut crunch pastry and was already swooning for more.. (I actually ended up having some packed up for me for my midnight indulgence).. My hosts had an apple pie and they were equally impressed by it..
Love to read your blogs !!!!! :*
