Easy Peasy Chocolate Cake
A mug cake is basically a cake ina mug; that takes just under 5 minutes to make and is enough to suffiecient one’s sudden cravings!
I had heard alot about the mug cake but never bothered to try it out even one bit!
But this time round, I was like, lets give it a shot!!
I ended up Googling a few recipes and finally selected a recipe that was called the “moisiest mug cake you may have ever come across” and The cake bombed and how?? Tasted of just raw oil and nothing else!
Sad, but determined to master the mug cake, I ended up having a twitter conversation with fellow foodie @FoodDrifter (http://www.fooddrifter.in/) and she happened to share with me, her go to mug cake recipe!
I tweaked the recipe a bit and made it that very instant and such a success it was, that my younger sister, who has forever HATED chocolate cakes ended up eating a considerable portion of my very small portion of the mug cake!
Basking in the glory of my success yesterday; I happened to make an impromptu decision to make a proper proper cake for one of my juna puarana friends when she called to say, sucheta, abhi mat nikal; mujhe 15 minute aur lagega and I was like ab main 15 minutes ke liye kya karu! chalo cake banaati hu uske liye..
So Kinjal Patel, that is exactly how your cake ka idea was born..
P.S. This is not a traditional cake recipe and varies from the authentic recipe.
Ingredients :
- 4 tbsp Maida
- 4 tbsp sugar (I take the regular sugar we use in milk etc. and coarsely pound it in a mortar and pestle)
- 2 tbsp + 2 tsp cocoa powder (I use the Cadbury Hot Chocolate that is readily available in the market!)
- 3-4 tbsp grated/chopped chocolate/nutella/chocolate chips/peanut butter (whatever you want; I use chocolate shavings)
- 1/4 tsp Baking Powder
- 3 tbsp Curds
- 4.5 tbsp Milk
- 3 tbsp Butter
- A pinch of Salt (only if you are using unsalted butter)
- 1/4 tsp Coffee Powder (you can use any flavoring that you wish)
- In a Bowl, take all the maida, sugar, baking powder, chocolate, curds, milk, butter, coffee powder and 2 tbsp + 1 tsp of cocoa powder. (Incase you are adding nutella or peanut butter, do not add it now; just drop it in the centre before you put the cake in the microwave)
- Whisk well. It is not compulsory for the batter to have a very fine consistency! Do not panic if your batter has a grainy consistency.
- Once you have whisked well, add the remaining 1 tsp cocoa powder and mix.
- Now shift this into a microwave friendly utensil that has been greased and dusted.
The Batter Microwave Bowl, Greased and Dusted - Cook in the microwave for 4-4.5 minutes. I selected the pre loaded 30 second option and set it to 4 minutes. After 4 minutes, take a toothpick poke the cake to the bottom of the base. If it comes out dry; the cake is ready, and if the tip is moist, cook it for a few more seconds.
- Remove from the microwave and let the cake cool in the utensil itself for a few minutes.
- Unmould and let it cool.
- The cake is going to be really really soft and very moist on the inside.
- Ice the outside with nutella and Decorate with gems!
