A lot has been said of the ice cream revolution in Mumbai, courtesy the introduction of molecular gastronomy and the rising popularity of dry ice, that allows you to have the freshest ice cream made in front of you!
Amongst the many, many places that have started/followed this trend is PAPACREAM, Churchgate!
A recent visit (and my very 1st one) to this place to celebrate their first anniversary with my younger sister did leave me with a mixed opinion of the brand!
What we had:
BubbleGum Candy Floss: This ice cream literally is time to rejoice for the 90s for the guys at papacream have invented this flavour that truly is a walk down memory lane.. Remember those days in school, when we would grab a couple of boomers on your way to school and the candy floss on your way out. How many times have we stopped and smiled, reminiscing the good old days when we pass by a candy floss vendor or the road; or even when we spot a jar filled with boomer at the local paan waala.. but never had the chance to stop and buy one! Well, we need to stop now and head PAPACREAM because these memories are exactly what they have re-created in the form of an ice cream! A bright pink ice cream surrounded with nice PINK candy floss, that left such a wide smile on my face! Looked and tasted exactly like my childhood memories and trust me when I say it, it will make you smile too!
Bournvita: Yes, Bournvita, the chocolate powder that made our plain-looking and tasteless milk oh so good and yes, they have converted this also into an ice cream and this one not only had me licking my fingers (literally) but also had Soumyaa and me fighting over it! Imagine, an ice cream scoop, not only made from Bournvita, but also dipped in Bournvita (imagine the emoticon with hearts instead of eyes and also the monkey shutting his eyes)!
Cookie Sushi Roll: This dessert sushi made up of biscotti ice cream turned out to be Soumyaa’s favourite and because I was busy relishing the Bournvita; I let her relish them!
Belgian Chocolate Sundae: Oh what a sucker all of us at home are for some really, really good waffles, but sadly; this sundae was a total disappointment for us!
PAPACREAM, a place that I may back to but yes the Bournvita ice cream and Horlicks ice cream definitely are to die for!
